Personal Care AttendantsStudents with disabilities are responsible for employing their own Personal Care Attendants. As the employer, the student should set wages, hours, job duties, and conditions for employment. The Office of Disability Services can assist students in recruitment efforts, by posting help wanted ads around campus. The Office of Disability Services has also developed a Personal Care Attendant Resource Guide for students who utilize personal care attendants. This document provides helpful information to students such as where to advertise for personal care attendants, resources on and off campus, information on how to do background checks, and words of wisdom from a successful alumna who used personal care attendants on a daily basis.
