Checklist for Assessing Colleges for Accessibility
When looking for the right college for you, make sure you find out what services are available to you through the Office of Disability Services on each campus. It is essential that you obtain as much information as possible about services for students with disabilities, and services that pertain to your particular disability, before you begin classes. You want to get ahead, and stay ahead of the game!
Some general questions you might consider asking:
- What kind of documentation is required for me to qualify for reasonable academic accommodations? Is there information specific to my disability that is needed? Where do I find this out?
- When should I be contacting the Office of Disability Services? How soon should I be in touch with them to insure that I have my accommodations in place for school?
