Works with every department on the MU campus to serve students with disabilities, and regularly interacts with the majority of faculty on an individual basis.
Has converted approximately 1,500 textbooks onto tape or into digital format and has received approximately 275 digital textbooks directly from publishers at no cost to the University.
Administers at least 3100 exams per year and 1550 or more exams per semester.
Has 5 assistive listening devices available free of charge to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Received the Education Program of the Year Award in October 2001 from the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Governor's Council on Disability.
Provides services to students with temporary injuries such as broken legs, arms and hands with on-campus transportation and exam accommodations.
Provides on-campus transportation to any student with mobility limitations who registers with the office.
Offers the opportunity for students to meet with staff one on one regarding study and organizational skills and time management.
Is a liaison between faculty members and students to insure compliance with the federal mandates for academic accommodations and success.
Staff are available to consult with faculty members on issues of reasonable accommodation.
Must register a student with a disability before faculty can provide ADA/Section 504 required accommodations.
Promotes independence in each of our students, preparing them for futures in the non-academic world. Students are encouraged to view their college experience as preparation for the future.
