Grievance ProceduresDisability Services understands that there are times when there may be disagreement on a decision regarding accommodations or problems that may arise during the process of receiving accommodations or in pursuing an educational program. If a student disagrees with a decision regarding accommodations or actions taken to provide accommodations, he or she should notify the Director of the Office of Disability Services, S5 Memorial Union – 882-4697, as soon as possible to file an informal complaint. The Director will evaluate the situation and attempt an informal resolution. If the student has a discrimination complaint involving admission to or treatment in an educational program or in the granting of an assistantship the student may request a conference with the appropriate department head and with the Dean of the School or College (or the Dean’s designee) to discuss the matter informally. The student may also choose to contact the MU ADA Coordinator, 465 McReynolds Hall - 884-7278, to file an informal complaint regarding any of the above concerns. The ADA Coordinator will work with all concerned parties to explore possible informal resolution. If a satisfactory resolution is not reached through an informal complaint process, the student may present a grievance pursuant to Section 390.010 F of the University System Collected Rules and Regulations. A discrimination grievance should be presented in writing and filed with the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs. A grievance must be filed by a student within 180 calendar days of the complained action for certain government regulatory agencies to become involved. For additional information on filing a grievance and on hearing procedures, please contact the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs in 110 Jesse Hall – 882-6776.
