Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What psychological services are available locally? Are there medical/counseling services available on campus?

Answer: The University of Missouri-Columbia has the Student Health Center which any student can make use of as long as they're a student at the university. While some services are free, some other services are fee based such as if they need to refer you to a specialist at the hospital. The university also has Mental Health Services which are part of the Student Health Center. In addition to the above services, we have a counseling center on campus also.

Question: My medical condition can be unstable at times. How can I arrange my schedule and activities to accommodate my needs?

Answer: You should discuss this with the Office of Disability Services as every situation is different.

In accordance with Federal law, it is our policy to deal directly with the student with the disability. Once a person reaches the age of 18, they are legally an adult.
