New StudentsStudents wishing to make use of academic accommodations must be registered with the Office of Disability Services. Registration is required for each semester that academic accommodations are to be used. For first time registration, the student must provide documentation of disability. For guidelines regarding the type of documentation that is needed, please see Documentation Guidelines for Students with Disabilities. Appropriate academic accommodations are determined based on a review of the documentation and an interview with the student. Once this is complete, the student will meet with appropriate staff to initiate services. Depending on the nature of the accommodation, the student may be requested to provide a copy of a class schedule, course syllabus, or other information necessary to insure that accommodations can be arranged. Letters are provided to the student, to be presented to professors, which outline the accommodations needed. It is the student's responsibility to inform professors and instructors of their need for academic accommodations. To assist you further, print out his handy Checklist for Disability Services.
