Barbara Hammer Director
Before joining the Office of Disability Services in January 2001, Barbara Hammer worked for over 20 years as a rehabilitation counselor in both the public and private sector. She left her home state of Missouri in 1978 after receiving her Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from MU, and lived in St. Paul, Minnesota for five years. Barbara then moved to the Puget Sound region of Washington State, and worked for both private rehabilitation agencies and for the Department of Labor and Industries in counseling, supervisory and consulting roles. Barbara and her husband chose to return to the Midwest after a 16-year absence. They enjoy traveling, hiking and reading, but now devote most of their time to gardening and playing with their dog, Bounce. |
